My take on this, not much different than others here. I certainly believe what Mr. Bergman stated in the video, the majority of us use images to post online and for that any camera will do a good job. For printing it all depends, more megapixels are not necessarily as he said better UNLESS cropping a good part of the image. Viewing distance we all know is important specially for those who peek. Get your exposure right, use good photo techniques, minimize noise and a 10 Mp camera will do an excellent job.
Some cameras, like Olympus, are capable of producing 45 or more megapixels. I do not have use for that, I am perfectly happy with a Nikon D610 capable of producing 24 Mp. although, to be honest, my old D7000 with 16 Mp. is very capable of beautiful enlargements and I seldom go beyond 12x18 inches. Come to think about it 24 Mp. are a lot of pixels for most uses. My 17 Mp. Olympus Pen EP-5 has given me beautiful enlargements.
If you post online as I said any camera will do and if you enlarge often to the most common sizes 24 Mp is more than enough. I have beautiful enlargements I made with my Nikon D2H that had only 4 Mp.
All this has been discussed many times before I just felt compelled to participate in the discussion.
