I haven't had an optical drive on any of my MacBook Pro's in a while.

I'm sure that they're doing it due to perceived customer feedback and need. Hardly anyone is buying CD's anymore. Software is all being downloaded. They're making external drives available for people that need them, but I don't think it makes sense for them to include them anymore.

Maybe B&H will offer something like this - for both cards and batteries.

I close the card and battery doors because they look too vulnerable when they're open.

When I remove the card for moving images to the computer I leave the camera "handy" until I'm done and replace the card before putting the camera away.

I rotate my cards...I have 3 cards. So my workflow is:

1. Import onto my MacBook Pro
2. Reinsert the card into the camera
3. Format the card
4. Replace card with oldest used card

I just don't like using the same card repeatedly.

I often see tip jars on the counter by the register. Do I tip the cashier for getting the change right?

Yeah....I do too. I refuse to tip someone for simply handing me my food and/or making sure that my order is right.

So....are they putting this on the check so they don't have to take the heat by just increasing prices 18%?

This sounds so much better....right?

This is absolute nonsense. Those cashier jobs have been shifted to store shoppers for shop online and pick up. Walmart is full of them. No one is losing a job.

I prefer self-checkout -

Yeah....me too.

I have a few reasons....

1. Most of the checkers have no clue how to bag anything. Self-check lets me bag things the way I want and make sure things don't get squashed, broken or too many things in a bag.
2. I don't want a conversation. Just check out my items so that I can get out of the damn store I don't want to talk about what my plans are for the weekend, whether what I'm buying is good or not, or whatever else you want to chat about.
3. Normally I'm getting less than a dozen things. Even with waiting to get to a self check-out kiosk, it's still less time than waiting in line for a person doing the checking. Whenever I'm at Walmart or Target and go to person doing checking out...I get behind someone paying with cash and doing so with exact change or someone writing a check who didn't start writing it until everything is scanned.

I might be ordering online more.

I use a CC for everything because the two cards I use pay "Rewards."

I don't even remember the last time I used cash. I seldom have any on me.

I always use RAW....nothing becomes a JPEG until after processing. I don't post any photos from my camera to social media or send them to anyone. Therefore, JPEG has no value....for me. I'm sure it has some value for someone....just not me.

My understanding is that CRAW's only advantage is space saving. When I go out I have 3 64 GB cards with each card able to hold approximately 1500 images. I've never take anywhere close to 4500 images before loading them onto my laptop....no CRAW serves no benefit for me.

I'll stay with using only RAW.

My question is why are we still debating this kind of thing HERE? We have long passed the number of pixels needed for sufficiency in the vast majority of situations.

How are we supposed to judge different cameras if not by megapixels? Isn't it obvious that 36 megapixel camera is vastly better than a 24 megapixel camera?
