Although I don’t use Elements or PS much, I find it way easier to use Sky Replacement in PS instead.

From what I have read about PS sky replacement, I believe you are correct, but Elements 2024 and Luminar Neo do what I need to do for right now. Thank You, Mike

Do you know where the stock folders are?

I have PSE 2024 on a Win 10 machine.

Folder location you asked about is :

C:\\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\24.0\Required\GuidedEdits\Replace Background
or
C:\\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\24.0\Required\GuidedEdits\Perfect Landscape

The folders also hold 1 text file and 2 jsn files.
To use your own sky images, when using “Guided Edits”, you would have to edit those files.

In guided edits ... Perfect Landscape has a good variety of skies to choose from.

Hi Dannac, Thanks for your reply. I can get to Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\24.0\Required\GuidedEdits But there is no folder for either "Replace Background or Perfect Landscape'
Not sure what I am doing wrong. I expected those 2 folders to contain the various Adobe sky folders in there to pick from and I could add several of my own skies.
Thanks for your help, I feel like I'm getting close!! Mike

Hunh ... have no answer for why you do not see those folders.

I did put one of my skies into the “Replace Background” folder, but is not recognized by the program ... and think it has to do with those txt and jsn files. They would need to be edited to include that new image.

You would also have to create a thumbnail of that new image at correct size, so it would show in the guided edit - replace background dialog.

I don’t feel it’s worth the trouble ... when you can easily add your own sky while using advanced mode.

Just choose sky or background from the Select menu dropdown in advanced mode.

Tried the image below 3 different ways in PSE 2024.

Guided Edits - Special Edits - Perfect Landscape
Guided Edits - Special Edits - Replace Background
Advanced - Select Menu - Sky

The fastest and most accurate by far was
Guided Edits - Special Edits - Perfect Landscape
... though you have to use one of PSE’s built skies.

... and most would benifit from sending the image to Advanced mode and making adjustments to the layer mask PSE auto created.

You could then take it a step further by using that layer mask ( inverted ) and moving the subject to your own sky image.

If you don't want to work with layers in Advanced module, try this:

Use GUIDED EDITS - special edits - replace background.

Select what you want to keep, click choose new background, import a photo.

User cahale (above) has what sounds like an excellent workaround; I couldn't find the folder of PSE skies in a quick search, but you might look into that further.

This works great

I found a suggestion in one of Adobe's chats for replacing with your own sky:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-elements-discussions/replace-sky/m-p/11877111

However, since I've been using layers and layer masks for several years now, the benefit of starting with a PSE sky was minimal and the instructions seem awfully complicated for someone who doesn't use layers.

If it does a good job of selecting/masking, would be worth checking into as I avoid detailed selections or masks as much as possible

I have not yet worked with layers and masks, but will need to learn!!

4 min mp4 video ( 13 mb )

PSE 2024 creates the mask on two images,
then the masked layers are dragged to your own sky image.

Thank you again Dannac, I am going to use the Perfect Landscape method until I learn how to use layers.

Welcome !

Perfect Landscapes does work well on images that contain skies.

May not be best for images that do not contain, skies.
