Cruising around and through Europe Part 63: Sailing north from Breisach Germany to Strasbourg France
After dinner, I went up on the top deck as the sun was setting and we went through one of the many locks as we cruised down the Rhine. It had been a very full and enjoyable day. We had a beautiful evening cruise north on the Rhine, including going through one of the many locks we transited during our week-long cruise.

That's got to be fun and interesting. I've done cruises on the Rhine, but we didn't go far enough to go through a lock.
Thoroughly enjoyed this set.
Beautiful and interesting, Dennis.
Interesting set Dennis. I love going through the locks on the Danube which I posted a few years ago.

Thanks for you comments Kathy. Going through the locks was very interesting and I think we went through about 8 of them; I'll have a few more photos of the locks in later posts.

Thanks Mark. It was an interesting experience. We were told that it was best to get a cabin on the top deck of cabins (of the 3 decks) for when we went through the locks. However, as you can see, it didn't really make a difference due to the drop in the lock. We had only gone through locks once before, on our 1973 summer in Europe. My wife's cousin was living in London and had a sailboat there. We spent a beautiful summer day on the Thames on his boat and went through a lock. We've been to London twice, July of 1973 and 2018 and both times it was over 80F. I've attached a photo of us going through the lock on the Thames. The boat is the one with the rope being held by my beautiful wife in the dark red pants on the right side of the photo.
Good set of images Dennis. The lock images were very interesting.
