After my road trip to Florida I'm back to my canyon exploring, and here is one I visited yesterday. It's called Jordan Canyon; it sits in the Gila Wilderness (which is about to celebrate its 100th birthday, by the way). I didn't get many photos because I was searching for a trail camera spot, and I can barely singletask, let alone multitask. Plus the first stretch was kind of ugly. On my next visit I will figure a way around the precipitous drop I encountered and make my way to what looks like an interesting junction with another canyon. For some unknown reason I was feeling cautious.
This is the farthest north I have ever had a camera, and it's possible I could get a wolf. As a teaser, I scared up instead a tiny baby cottontail about four inches long, who allowed me exactly one chance at a photo. Considering the bunny was about fifteen feet away and the photo is egregiously cropped, it didn't turn out too awful.
I promise more scenic photos next time. I was there right in the middle of the day. I hope you enjoy these few.
Beautiful set, with a cute finale! I look forward to the trail cam results. BTW being cautious in a solo hike in that type of country is the correct feeling.

I know it is, but I get jazzed about a new location and don't always use my noodle. Perhaps I am growing up...dang I hope not. One animal I'm sure I'll get on the camera is a bunny.
Glad there is still water around. Really nice set.

I was surprised to find water, especially in the beginning of the canyon where it is so exposed. Thank you for looking.

Isn't it adorable? I wish it a happy life. Safe from wolves.
Better to err on the safe side. You carry one of those Garmin In-Reach devices? Nice photos.

I don't yet have such a gadget. Thanks for looking.
I applaud you in your explorations. I used to do that. Then I "grew up" and decided it wasn't a smart thing to do. Since I didn't know anyone else stupid enough or brave enough to do it, I had to give it up. I'm enjoying your explorations.

Oh, I'm sorry! It always seems tragic to me when we have to give up doing what we love for any reason. Believe me no one would want to hike with me either (even my dog Ted dreaded some of my excursions), not that I ever ask anyone to.
My strategy is this: if I never grow up in the first place I won't have to enter a second childhood, or at least no one will be able to tell the difference if I do.
