My first camera - and lens. Got it when I was 12 and went to summer camp in Colorado. Kept it until I was in my 70s and sold off all my film equipment, although it didn't get much use after I got a Nikon F when I was on active duty. I did like rangefinders enough, though, that I had and used other Leica equipment (M3, M5, M6 and CL) along with my reflex film cameras until I went all digital.

That was a very nice collection. If film and processing prices were reasonable I would still enjoy using some of my film cameras. I really enjoyed using the Leica CL ( my first Leica ) on trips. I miss using them today. Getting a Leica
at 12 sure beat my little Argus twin lens reflex..although a photo of a New England lake and beautiful cumulus clouds that I took with it using a polarizing filter is still in my mind's eye 65 years later.

My first camera was a Leica, IIIf, but it was Dad's and he gave me all the Leica gear. ALL of it. After WW II he was stationed in Bremerhaven and traded cigarettes and food, coffee and all manner of things for the Leica items. I now use a Sony 7A and the optics are grand on the mirror less body. DSLR bodies are not useful working with the old optics, one of the great failures of the DSLR concept, but the mirror less is well suited to the older optics.

The Summar 50mm f 2 is fun, and the R lenses, like the R28mm is great. But the best is the WW II German Army supplied 8.5cm f1.5 Summalux is such a joy that Pops hardly ever used. I loved more than the 90mm lenses. All total, camera lens are about 16 lenses including reflex for the M cameras and the R lenses for the Reflex bodies. Still have three rangefinder bodies, all fitted with original shutter materials, and the R6 Leica.

Yes, "I like-A-Leica", best in the entire world of 35mm cameras and optics.

I have that exact same camera with the original leather case, bought it used in 1969 in Cape Town for 50 South African Rands. I looked it up and it was made in 1957. Still works perfectly. I have a 36 exp color film in it at present, and next I have a roll of B&W.
