I wanted to check the MEI/EMI(?) number of my new phone, so I entered it on a look-up site. Up popped one of those screen blockers. "There is a problem with your computer! Call Microsoft!" Fortunately, I was able to click on the tab, close it, and continue working. I'm surprised that Defender didn't warn me about that site. I wonder how many people call the number and pay to have their computers fixed.

I just turn off the computer, wait for minute or two and turn it back on. Then I continue working.

I have received an email that I purchased an item to be delivered next day priced $540.00 and I was billed through my PayPal account. I have not ordered anything for that amount and my PayPal account is being closed for the past three years. There is a phone number to call, but no one answers it. Please be aware of this scam.

I get emails about things I didn't order at least once a week. They always wind up in the Spam folder.

Before you call these phone numbers Google them usually they don't exist. Also if you get one of the 'You are in deep #% @( ' messages and you can't close the tab enter alt-ctrl-delete go to to task-manager find your browser and end the task. When you restart your browser do not use the resume or restore option.

My wife and I just watched this movie. I almost wish that this sort of plot could play out in real life.

Yep. Just shutting down the browser is probably enough. Don't go back to that site.

I get 5 to 10 "You have won..." emails every day. All of them are phishing expeditions. I block every one of them. They all seem to have graphics in the subject line, and use weird fonts not common on US operating systems. Most of them contain spelling and grammatical errors. If you hover the cursor over the sender line, it usually reveals a bogus email address like PvN3O4@OU812.nl.

If I got all the things I've "won", they would fill 2 more houses.
